If I could have my way, I would have a job simply to support my volunteer endeavors. I have been humbled and privileged to have been a part of two amazing organizations, and still a part of one:
~I have had to pull back from both NILMDTS and Help-Portrait because of the growing demands on my time. They are still so great that I would encourage you to get involved~
This organization has volunteer photographers and photo editors all over the world who provide families, grieving the loss of an infant (or the impending loss), with heirloom remembrance photographs of their child. I have witnessed first hand the power of this service, and every time I have been out on a call, I’ve been blown away by the fact that I am able to help people at such a critical point in their lives. If you are a photographer, please consider checking it out, as it is a life changing kind of an experience. If you have been touched by this service, we would love to hear from you. And if you have never heard of this service before, please have a look at the video below and at the website to see what it is all about.
2- Help-Portrait ( Abbotsford)
This organization started in 2008 in the US with an idea for photographers to give back to their communities in a tangible way. Now it is a worldwide movement of photographers, editors, hair stylists, make-up artists, and other volunteers who are giving their time and talents to those in need.
3- Abbotsford Doula Group
I am so excited to be on the board and the management team of this non-profit. A portion of each of our full price birth services goes to help fund doula care for low income and high needs births within our community, as well as families experiencing crisis. We work with local organizations to connect with these families, and it has been such a blessing to be a part of serving in this way. Birth doula care is so vital to the overall birthing experience of women and families, our vision is to increase access to these services, and to increase education about doulas and their role in the community. Visit our facebook page Abbotsford Doula Group Association to connect with us. If you are interested in becoming one of our partners and working with us on funding families at risk, please contact us!
